CLEAR LIGHT

KINETIC LIGHT SCULPTURE

DESCRIPTION

  • Clear Light is a kinetic light sculpture that attempts to portray the clear light, referenced in Buddhism as the moment in which opposing forces unite preceding the highest supposed state of consciousness, often at death. Using a motion sensor, the sculpture detects the presence of somebody in the room and begins it’s cycle of illumination and gradual disappearance through the use of microcontrollers, governing a series of lights fixed within the shape of my own life-sized form. As each new person enters the room the sculpture will repeatedly cycle through its process of temporary death.
