Perpetual Return, 2014
11.11 minute loop
Looking beyond the superficial, the artist uses self portraits as a means of self-inquiry and self-exploration. ‘Perpetual Return’ is a performance during which the artist draws a series of systematic lines directly onto her body. The drawings are based on the bodies geometric proportions, but not confined to it’s physical attributes. Seeing the physical body as a vehicle of transcendence, each line builds up over time, representing the accumulation of knowledge that lead to higher states of consciousness, and ultimately transcendence of the physical form. The invisible web that holds life together slowly breaks down releasing life back into the eternal.
Perpetual Return is shown as 11.11min loop, which repeats itself in both directions, dissolving into the white background and reforming, as a continuos cycle.
